A meeting between the National Association of Cooperative Banks and a delegation from the Brazilian cooperative system Sicredi will be held in Rome on Thursday XNUMXst September.
“Communities that cooperate grow”. With this slogan, Sicredi, the Cooperative Credit System, confederates 121 credit cooperatives, through a network of 1.501 branches, present in 21 states of Brazil. As part of a vertical organization, the cooperatives participate in the control of five subjects: Sicredi Participações SA, a Confederation, a Foundation and a cooperative bank which governs the specific companies operating in the distribution of insurance products, credit cards and consortium services. The Sicredi system represents over 3,3 million members and is one of the three main organizations in the Brazilian credit cooperation system.
The meeting was born from the mutual interest of deepening the knowledge of the structure of the respective banking cooperative movements. The comparison will be an opportunity for an exchange of information and assessments on the evolution of global banking cooperation and will serve to explore the main issues on the specificities and challenges for the future of People's Banks.
Giuseppe De Lucia Lumeno, General Secretary of Assopopolari, considers the meeting, which is part of a series of numerous others that have been held in recent years, "a testimony of the interest shown in Italian banking cooperation and an element of satisfaction, confirming the traditional international vocation of the cooperative world". Again according to De Lucia Lumeno, "the vitality, dynamism and function of support to the real economy that popular credit performs through support to local communities and families, has an internationally recognized history, presence and future".
The meeting will be held at the headquarters of Assopopolari.
