The process of setting up the commission of inquiry into the Italian banking system is going ahead. The Senate Finance Commission has given a mandate to the rapporteur, Mauro Maria Marino (Pd), to report to the Chamber. The provision is now ready for arrival in the Chamber but it needs to be scheduled by the group leaders.
The bill unifies the 13 projects presented by various parties starting with the Five Star Movement. The commission will have to investigate "the effects on the Italian banking system of the global financial crisis" and the management of banking institutions that "were involved in situations of crisis or instability".
The mandate, he reported, was voted on by all the groups except the League, while the 5 Stars abstained on the text, contesting the choice to leave the one-year deadline to close the works of the bicameral and the failure to introduce incompatibilities for deputies and senators who have had relations with banks.
