The Chamber of Deputies will vote today on the motion presented by the 5 Star Movement of personal no confidence in the Minister for Reforms Maria Elena Boschi in relation to the bank-saving measure. On the other hand, the vote of no confidence in the entire Renzi government advanced by the opposition and in particular by the leader of Forza Italia, Brunetta, who split the party in two, was postponed in January.
At Boschi, the grillinis reproach the conflict of interest since her father was the vice president of the Banca dell'Etruria and Lazio. Economy Minister Pier Carlo Padoan, staunchly defending Boschi, wondered what the alleged conflict of interest could consist of, for which the conditions cannot be seen.
On paper, the Government has the numbers to reject the no-confidence but it will be interesting to see the sides and the reasons with which the different parliamentary groups will motivate their orientation. The support for the distrust of the grillini and the League is taken for granted, while the personal grievances against Renzi will also lead the Left of the former Fassina and D'Attorre to vote against Boschi.
Particularly interesting is the speech by the leader of the Democratic Center, Bruno Tabacci who ten years ago headed the parliamentary investigation commission into the banks due to the frauds linked to the Cirio bonds, Parmalat and Argentine bonds: Tabacci will defend Boschi and the Government but will criticize the decision to have included the Popolare dell'Etruria among the Popolari convertible into a spa when it was already known of its instability conditions.
