Italian banks also rejected by Fitch

Fitch has decided to maintain a negative outlook on Italian credit institutions mainly due to the high presence of NPLs.

After yesterday's decision by Moody's to maintain a negative outlook on Italian banks, the other rating agency Fitch also expresses itselfmore or less of the same opinion.

Fitch decided to maintain a negative outlook on credit institutions in the Bel Paese due to the high presence of NPLs, after having given some general indications on the Italian situation this morning in view of the rating update on sovereign public debt, scheduled for next 20 October.

The decision taken yesterday by Moody's made Economy Minister Pier Carlo Padoan warm, who replied as follows: “The image of Italy that Moody's gives is not representative of reality”.
