Italian banks, in July non-performing loans rose by 14,3% on an annual basis

The annual growth rate of the bad loans in the portfolio of Italian banks. According to data released by Bank of Italy, a + 14,3 % compared to 14,7% the previous month. The value of uncollectible loans rose to 197,096 billion euro from 195,845 in June.

On an annual basis, i loans to the private sector they recorded a contraction of 0,6% after -1% in June. In detail, loans to non-financial companies recorded a drop of 1,1% after the -1,6% of June, while those to households increased by 0,3% after the +0,1% of the previous month.

In terms of loans to households for the purchase of homes, there was a very slight increase in rates which rose, on average, from 3,01% in June to 3,02% in July. Those on new consumer credit disbursements stood at 8,13%, unchanged from June. The interest rates on new loans to non-financial companies for amounts up to €1 million are 2,93% from 2,88% in the previous month; those on new loans exceeding this threshold to 1,56% from 1,70%. Lastly, deposit rates on all outstanding deposits rose to 0,56%, from 0,61% in the previous month.

In terms of deposits, in July the annual growth rate of deposits stood at 3,7% from the previous 3,8%. Bond funding, which includes bonds held by the banking system, fell by 17,8% against -18,4% in June.

The statistical bulletin "Money and Banks" edited by Bank of Italy shows in July that the value of the portfolio of national government bonds held by banks operating in Italy it rose by almost two billion from 405,387 billion at the end of June to 407,071 in July.
