Banks, double yes: commission of inquiry and Venetian banks

Meanwhile, the unions and Intesa Sanpaolo have reached an agreement on the redundancies from Popolare di Vicenza and Veneto Banca.

The Chamber approved with 211 votes in favour, 91 against and 3 abstentions the bill converting the decree law on Veneto banks which is now being examined by the Senate. Trust was needed in Montecitorio, which will almost certainly also be placed in Palazzo Madama, where the numbers of the majority are more precarious.

Meanwhile, the unions and Intesa Sanpaolo have reached an agreement on the redundancies from Popolare di Vicenza and Veneto Banca. The approximately 4 agreed exits will be managed in two phases: the first involves at least a thousand workers in the former Popolare di Vicenza and former Veneto Banca perimeter who will accrue the pension requirement within 7 years and who will leave on a monthly basis from 1 October 2017 to 1 January 2018.

Finally, still on the banking front, the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella signed the provision establishing the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the banking and financial system. The provision has already been published in the Official Gazette and will enter into force on 28 July.
