Bankers, unions: "Vaccine plan consider bank workers"

Banks perform a public service and for this reason they must be adequately taken into account in drafting the vaccine plan like other workers performing essential tasks.

This is a summary of one letter sent by the ABI and the trade unions category (Fabi, First-Cisl, Fisac-Cgil, Uilca, Unisin) to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy and Finance, the Minister of Health, the Minister of Labor and Social Policies, the governor of the Banca d Italy and to the Extraordinary Commissioner for the Covid-19 epidemiological emergency.

The text underlines how, even in periods of total lockdown, the banks have ensured the continuity of the provision of services "in consideration of their role of strategic infrastructure for the country as required by law".

“In this context, the people who work in the bank continue to perform with extraordinary commitment and a sense of responsibility a central role in supporting the economy, businesses and families, in compliance with the prevention, contrast and containment measures of the Covid-19 virus identified in the Protocols shared from time to time by ABI and trade union organizations for ensure health and safety conditions for all interested persons,” reads the letter.

By virtue of what has just been said, the competent authorities are asked "that the vaccine plan also appropriately take into consideration the workers engaged in the provision of essential public services (pursuant to Law No. 146/1990), including therefore banking services”.
