At the end of the meeting, Alessandro Profumo, president of the trade union delegation of ABI, explained that the association withdrew the structural prejudicials on seniority and severance pay (two of the five points on which the negotiation with the unions is focused). Abi e sindacati they made an appointment for a new meeting for the next 25 February. Subsequently, two more dates were agreed with meetings scheduled for 5 and 10 March.

The goal, for both parties, is to forge a agreement by March 31st in order not to risk the non-application of the contract, already canceled by the ABI in December, starting from April 31st. Around Palazzo Altieri they let it be known that the will of the banks is to "close by XNUMX March a national contract which, taking into account the concerns about the economic situation of the banks, is based on elements of sustainability".

Not even the secretary general Uilca hides a certain optimism Massimo Masi who at the end of the meeting in Abi declared: “If there is the will to negotiate the contract renewal it can be done in a month. Profumo has asked us for flexibility but there must also be flexibility on the part of the companies”, added the trade unionist. The general secretary of Fabi Lando Maria Sileoni was also confident who stated: "We acknowledge that Abi's position has changed and that, with the withdrawal by the banks of the structural rulings on severance indemnities and seniority increases, the comparison can continue".
