Banca Mps: goodbye rebound, new stock market crash

The rebound attempt didn't last long. The stock on the Stock Exchange of Ps, after having opened more than 2% higher, in the following minutes it turned negative, losing 3,8% to 0,8905 euros, updating its historical low for the umpteenth time in the last few days. This is one of the worst declines in the entire Ftse Mib, which in the meantime is positive by 0,4%.

The ephemeral recovery recorded in the first exchanges had been propitiated by Consob decision to prohibit short selling on the shares of the Sienese institute, even if assisted by the availability of the securities. The Commission's decision came after a dramatic day for the stock, which yesterday lost 11,2% after trading for more than 121 million shares, more than double the daily average for the last month. This is 4,1% of the Sienese bank's capital.

Moreover, since the beginning of the year, MPS shares have not managed to rebound even for one day and have left around 20% overall. To the point that the Sienese bank's capitalization has slipped below 3 billion, wiping out the positive impact of the 3 billion capital increase carried out only last June (it is now worth 2,7 billion on the stock market).
