Banca Ifis buys half a billion Npl from Intesa

Banca Ifis closed an operation with Intesa Sanpaolo for the purchase of unsecured non-performing loans for a total nominal value of 553 million euro. The portfolio in question is made up of approximately 65 thousand receivables due from debtors belonging to the consumer segment and, specifically, deriving mainly from personal loan agreements (90%), car loan and special purpose loan (10%).

“Thanks to this new and important operation, Banca Ifis has reached 2,2 billion euro in terms of total purchases of non-performing loans since the beginning of the year, confirming itself as a strategic partner of the Italian banking system. The non-performing loans purchased in recent months lay solid foundations for the present and future profitability of our Group. Indeed, the results of the recovery activity, despite the complex market environment, are confirmed to date substantially in line with 2019. We are currently participating in other sales processes and we are confident about the end of the year", explains Katia Mariotti, head of the Central NPL Department of Banca Ifis.

As at 30 October 2020, the proprietary portfolio of the Banca Ifis Group amounts to 19,1 billion euros in nominal value to which must be added 4,5 billion euros managed on behalf of third parties for a total of 23,6 billion euros in nominal value.
