Banca del Mezzogiorno – MedioCredito Centrale (BdM – MCC) was awarded the management of financial instruments to support research and innovation in the Mezzogiorno. The awarding takes place following the competitive procedure launched by the European Investment Bank - EIB, on the basis of an agreement stipulated with the MIUR.
As Manager of the Fund of Funds (FoF) financed by the European Structural Investment Funds of the 2014-2020 Operational Programme, the EIB will make a €62 million loan available to the Bank, as set out in the Operational Agreement signed on 20 December 2017 at the BDM-MCC headquarters.
The loan will make it possible to disburse individual loans, against innovation and research projects, to companies of any size in the target areas (Abruzzo-Basilicata-Calabria-Campania-Molise-Puglia-Sardinia-Sicily).
The BdM – MCC will make available to customers a line of financing consisting of a part of FoF resources and a part of its own resources (in co-financing) both represented by a medium and long-term unsecured loan with repayment in installments (instalments monthly, quarterly or half-yearly, including principal and interest), according to a rate that can be fixed or variable.
In line with the action criteria of the NOP, investments must concern the following "Priority Themes": aerospace, agrifood, marine economy, green chemistry, design, creativity and made in Italy, energy, smart factory, sustainable mobility, health, smart, secure and inclusive communities, technologies for living environments and technologies for cultural heritage.
