The European Central Bank would have asked a Banca Carige di increase to €700 million la recapitalization envisaged in the capital plan to cover the capital deficit that emerged in the stress tests at the end of October. According to some rumors, the hypothesis emerged in the context of the talks held with the European supervisory authorities.
On October 26th, the board of Banca Carige had approved a capital increase between 500 and 650 million euros and the sale of Creditis and Banca Cesare Ponti. Added to these are the already completed sales of the two insurance companies Carige Vita and Carige Assicurazioni (with a reduction effect on the shortfall of 100 million).
Today Banca Carige shares gained 0,83% in Piazza Affari, settling at 0,061 euro.
