Ballots: M5S triumphs in Rome and Turin, the Democratic Party wins in Milan

The grillini triumph in Rome, where they conquer for the first time and by a wide margin the Capitol with Virginia Raggi, and surprisingly too in Turin where Chiara Appendino clearly surpasses Fassino and becomes mayor. The Democratic Party consoles itself with Milan, where Beppe Sala prevails over Parisi of the centre-right, and with Bologna, where Merola he is confirmed as mayor at the expense of the Northern League Borgonzoni. Consensus boom in Naples for the outgoing mayor De Magistris.

The ballot vote is a political earthquake, even if it will not call into question the stability of the government. But Prime Minister Renzi will have his problems either inside the Pd, where the minority has reared its head and demands that he leave the secretariat and leave the party ahead of the constitutional referendum in October.

A Roma the ballot sanctioned the triumphant victory of Raggi who collected 67% and became mayor of the capital: it is the first time this has happened to a woman and it is the first time that the grillini have found themselves administering a city of the importance of Rome . Now they will have to demonstrate, with no more excuses, that they know how to move from protest to government and know how to solve the many gangrenous problems of the capital. The clear defeat of the Pd candidate, Roberto Giachetti, who sacrificed himself with dignity but collected just over 30% of the votes.

But the real surprise of the municipal elections came out at Torino where the grillina Chiara Appendini overturned the result of the first round and also the predictions by beating the outgoing mayor of the Democratic Party Piero Fassino and conquering the Municipality with 54,6%. The second surprise was the first comment by Appendino herself, who immediately entered the role with an impeccable institutional discourse in which she referred to the history of Turin, rendered military honors to Fassino and clearly stated that she wanted to be the mayor of all Turinese.

The Democratic Party consoled itself a Milano, where the former Expo commissioner, Beppe Sala, openly supported by Prime Minister Renzi, won the race by beating the center-right unitary candidate, Stefano Parisi, with 51,7%, who stopped at 48,3%.

Also to Bologna the Pd won with the outgoing mayor Federico Merola who clearly regulated the Northern League Lucia Borgonzoni.

Consensus boom a Napoli for the outgoing mayor of the left, Luigi De Magistris who won the challenge with the center-right candidate, Lettieri.

In the other more relevant Municipalities, the centre-right won a Trieste and Grosseto but lost to Varese, where the center-left prevailed against Maroni's League. TO Benevento Clemente Mastella reappeared and became mayor by winning the ballot.

With the polls closed, a political phase full of tensions and poisons will certainly open up, from which it will not be easy to get out, but this is democracy.
