It's still autumn, but it already feels like the middle of winter. Especially in the North, where in these hours it is already snowing almost everywhere in the mountains (even at low altitudes, 400-500 meters), and over the weekend the snow should also arrive in the plains. The wave of cold and bad weather will persist for a few more days, in fact, bringing temperatures around zero in the cities and well below, even in the maximum values, in the mountain valleys. Today above 3.000 meters it reached -20 degrees, on the border between Alto-Adige and Austria.
Central Italy, on the other hand, is under heavy rain, especially Lazio and the northern part of Campania. Temperatures are holding up for now, but they will drop in the coming days also in the central south, with snowfall in the Apennines, even at medium-low altitudes, at the weekend.
The most violent wave should arrive on Friday, with snow almost everywhere in the north, even in the lowlands. It will snow heavily in Turin (already from Friday), Milan (scheduled for Saturday), in Liguria, in Bologna and almost all over the Alps.
