Bacon, Freud and the London School on display in Budapest

The exhibition focuses on the main authors of a London school such as Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Frank Auerbach and Leon Kossoff, but also looks at the impact on the trend of contemporary British history and painting starting from the figurative painting of the XNUMXs.

Bacon, Freud and the London School on display in Budapest

A major exhibition of paintings on loan from overseas private collectors and public collections such as the Tate Britain collection in London.

The exhibition is the first presentation of the London School of Art in Hungary, showing alongside the trend of the most famous artists who emerged in the second half of the 20th century, the London art scene with artistic dialogues, which include the activity of painters such as Michael Andrews, RB Kitaj, Paula Rego, FN Souza Euan Uglow. The works follow the traditions of visual art and depict everyday life: examples of an expressive painting concept centered primarily on people. The painting often has the human figure as its central object. The exhibition also goes beyond geographical borders as in the case of Alberto Giacometti and Chaim Soutine.

The timeless issues of materialistic and sensual painting have not lost their relevance even today. Although his death was announced several times during the 20th century, represented by the London School, the concept of creative painting is also present in the art of future generations: for example, Cecily Brown, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye with the figurative painting, well connected to the tradition of the London School.
