La Walmart Stores Inc is a US multinational which operates in Retail. It is the largest chain in the world in the large-scale retail channel. It is also the largest private employer in the world with 2,2 million employees. It has around 10.524 stores in 27 countries. Walmart also owns the retail warehouses Sam's club. It operates as Walmart in the USA and Canada, Walmart of Mexico and Central America in Mexico and Central America and such Seiyu group in Japan.

Walmart is listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 1972 and since 1997 it has been included in the index Dow Jones Industrial Average.

The company is controlled by Walton family with 46% of the capital through an individual stake (11%) and through the Walton Enterprises LLC (35,7%).
