Axpo unseats Eni and takes third place on the free market

According to the Arera 2020 annual report, Axpo increases its market share in the free market, reaching 5,2%. Sales in the overall electricity market also rose.

Axpo gains one position and climbs from fourth in third place in the ranking of groups operating on the free market, displacing Eni from the podium with a market share that in 2019 reached 5,2% from 4,6% the previous year. This is certified by Arera in the 2020 annual report. 

As regards the electricity market overall, Axpo is in fifth place, with 11.063 GWh sold (+17%), an increase mainly due to the increase in sales to medium voltage customers (+767 GWh; +17%), and high/very high voltage (+553 GWh; +17%). In the latter, in particular, Axpo is in second place, with a market share of 14,7%, behind Enel which remains at the top with 18,5%. 

"These numbers have led Axpo to become part of the group of Italian sellers with more than 10 TWh sold in a year", comments the company in a note.

Speaking of production facilities, the company announces that it has raised its contribution to gross national electricity generation, from 1,6% in 2018 to 2,1% in 2019. thermoelectric production from natural gas, which rose from 3,6% in 2018 to 4,2% in 2019.

Also growing gas sector (9th place), with a market share that increased from 1,8% in 2018 to 2,6% in 2019, for an increase in sales of 506 million mXNUMX3 (+ 50%).

Including sales to wholesalers and other sellers, up 1.197 million m3 compared to 2018), Axpo moves from 8th to 7th place in the ranking of total sales, with an increase of 1.703 million m3 (+56%). “We are proud of these numbers which once again confirm that the choices made are producing the expected results.
