Surprise turnaround at the top of Axa. Henri de Castries, president and chief executive officer of the French insurance group, announced on Monday that he will resign on September 17 this year, thus allowing the new management to implement its strategic plan. De Castries' step back comes after almost XNUMX years at the helm of the company.

As for his successors, the 42-year-old Thomas Buberl - until yesterday head of the German part of Axa - today becomes deputy CEO and from 62 September will be the new managing director of the entire group. Denis Duverne, XNUMX, will instead replace de Castries as president.

In a letter to staff announcing his resignation, de Castries explains that "it is only natural that a new team will launch and manage our new strategic plan which will be announced in June 2016". The manager has assured that he will work with Buberl and Duverne to ensure a smooth transition.
