Autogrill enters Qatar and strengthens itself in Abu Dhabi

Autogrill, through its subsidiary HmsHost International, continues its expansion in the airport channel with the entry into Qatar at the new Doha airport and with the expansion of activities at the Abu Dhabi airport in the United Arab Emirates. Overall, the company estimates new revenues of around 244 million euros. In detail, in Qatar, in the hub of the national airline Qatar Airways, HmsHost International will manage, in joint venture with Emirates Capital, four points of sale which will open in the second half of 2016 inside Hamad Airport, with estimated total revenues of over 80 million euros for the seven-year duration of the contracts.

In Abu Dhabi, in the hub airport of the national airline Etihad Airways, Autogrill is strengthening its presence. Indeed, to the eight points of sale already managed, HmsHost International, also in joint venture with Emirates Capital, will add another eleven points of sale that are part of the catering offer of the new terminal currently under construction. It is expected that the points of sale will open by the end of 2017. The value of the contracts is equal to almost 164 million euros for an average of seven and a half years of duration of the agreements.

The CEO of HmsHost International, Walter Seib, expresses in a well-known satisfaction for the new agreements stipulated: "This new partnership in Qatar with one of the fastest growing airports in the Gulf area and the agreement for eleven new points of sale in Abu Dhabi with one of our strategic partners, represent a significant milestone in our growth strategy in the dynamic and rapidly expanding Middle Eastern market”.

With regard to the offer that will be developed at Abu Dhabi airport, HmsHost International will bring brands that have already been successful. We are talking about Wedgewood Tearoom, which reinterprets the ritual of afternoon tea; the handcrafted gourmet deli Jones the Grocer; Urban Food Market, with a market-style offering of fresh F&B products; Comptoir Libanais, offering fast casual Lebanese cuisine; Bottega, for Italian breakfasts and aperitifs; Outback Steakhouse, Australian-inspired steakhouse; Puro Gusto, the contemporary concept of Italian café; the French pastry shop Fournil de Pierre; the Masale Indian restaurant; sports bar Cricket Sports Club and Juicy Details, which offers fresh juices.

As for Doha, the proposed concepts are Burger Federation, which offers gourmet hamburgers, Great Eastern Market, which offers Pan-Asian street food; Spizzico, focused on pizza and pasta, and Harvest Market, where the different stalls will cook international dishes based on fresh ingredients.
