Auto, Unrae: registrations -7,8% in 2011, at 1,8 million

In July, an all-time low was reached and forecasts for the rest of the year confirm that the Italian market will continue to be “far from brilliant” – At the end of 2011, the expected drop compared to 2010 is 150 units – Suffering from the more families.

Auto, Unrae: registrations -7,8% in 2011, at 1,8 million

The car market in Italy is struggling to restart. And so it will also be in the second half of the year, at least according to Unrae, the association that represents car manufacturers in our country. The July Observatory confirms the estimates published at the end of April for the second quarter: it is "predictable" that the trend will continue to be "far from brilliant", reaching one million and 800 thousand registrations, down by 7,8, 2010% compared to 960 (when it reached one million and XNUMX thousand).

"A few more purchases recorded in the April-June quarter - writes Unrae - are unfortunately compensated by a significant drop that is manifesting itself in July, which is starting to be the lowest ever". According to the Observatory, the negative trend will continue in August and September, while in the last quarter of the year there should be an increase of 1% (422 registrations) compared to the same period of the previous year. “It appears clear – concludes the association – that the year-end estimate, with a loss of about 150 thousand units compared to 2010, will be able to exceed the levels described only if the recent measures taken by the Government are accompanied by measures to support the growth of the economy of the country".

What suffers the most is household demand, which has already reached its lowest point in the second quarter. The increases in all costs associated with the use of the car weigh on purchases: from fuel to insurance, from tolls to direct taxes such as Ipt and road tax. For these reasons, private registrations should not exceed two thirds of the total at the end of the year.
