Cars, EU producers: "Volkswagen scandal does not concern the whole sector"

"There is no evidence that the problem affects the whole sector." This is what Acea, the association of European automobile manufacturers writes, in relation to the scandal on the altered emissions of Volkswagen vehicles, of which it also recognizes the "gravity".

In the European Union, explains Acea, "the legal requirements regarding polluting emissions from motor vehicles refer to a test carried out under laboratory conditions".

The association points out that the Euro 6 diesel vehicles on the market have all received approval from a European national authority and that "soon" emissions tests will also be carried out on the road under "realistic" conditions of use.

Acea brings together 15 European vehicle manufacturers: BMW, Daf Trucks, Daimler, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford of Europe, Hyundai Motor Europe, Iveco, Jaguar Land Rover, Opel Group, Psa Peugeot Citroën, Renault Group, Toyota Motor Europe, Volkswagen Group, Volvo Cars and Volvo Group.
