The decline in the car market continues, but in Italy the decline is just a quarter of the EU average - Among the FCA brands, Lancia/Chrysler and Jeep do well - Fiat 500 and Fiat Panda leaders in the A segment

According to the latest data released by the Association of European Manufacturers (Acea), in June new car registrations EU (plus EFTA countries) they stopped below 1,5 million (1.491.285), 7,9% less than in the same month last year. In the first semester8,4 million new cars were sold, down 3,1% year-on-year.

The downturn was less heavy in Italy, where registrations decreased by 2,1% in June (to 171.626) and by 3,5% in the first semester (to 1.082.197).

To the group fca, on the other hand, fared worse than the market average. Last month, Fiat Chrysler registrations in the EU (plus the EFTA countries) stopped at 90.249, marking a drop of 13,5% on the year. In the semester, on the other hand, sales fell by 9,5%, to 540.540.

As for the group's brands, they recorded positive results Lancia / Chrysler (+7,6% in June, +27,4% in the semester) e Jeep (+1,5% and +2%). Bad instead Fiat (-15% and -10,2%); very bad Alfa Romeo (-37,3% and -41,6%).

In Italy, the group reports, “Fiat 500 e Fiat Panda dominate the sales ranking of segment A: the first is the best-selling car both in June and in the progressive year (with respectively almost 19 and just under 108.600 registrations) while the Panda is second in both periods with sales on the rise by 11,1% in the month and by 14,8% in the six months”.
