The European car industry continues to grow, but is slowing down. On the other hand, FCA does not slow down its race, which beats the market by a wide margin.

According to Acea data released this morning, in May in the EU-EFTA area one million and 152 thousand cars were registered, 1,4% more than in the same month of 2014. This is the 21st consecutive monthly increase. In Italy alone, registrations increased by 10,8%. The markets of Spain (+14%) and the United Kingdom (+2,4%) also grew, while drops were recorded in France (-3,5%) and Germany (-6,7%). The contribution of Eastern European countries was significant, especially Poland (+11%) and the Czech Republic (+17,6%).

In the first five months for the year, on the other hand, sales in the EU-EFTA area were just over 6 million, 6,7% more on an annual basis. Positive changes were recorded in all the main markets: Spain +21,7%, Italy +15,2%, United Kingdom +5,7%, France +3,8% and Germany +3,6%.

As for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, in May the year-on-year growth rate was 9% (over 78 registrations), with a market share growing to 6,8%, against 6,5% in April and 6,3% in May 2014.

In the first five months in 2015, on the other hand, the growth rate was 11,5% (over 385 registrations) and the share was 6,4%, against 6,1% in the same period last year. 

Also in May, for the 29th consecutive month, FCA led the "A" segment, with the Panda and 500 together obtaining a 29,5% share in the month. The 500L is also first in its segment, with a 24,1% share. 

FCA recorded better-than-average results in all the main markets: +13,4% in Italy (market at +10,8%), +3,4% in France (where overall sales fell by 3,5%) , +4,4% in the United Kingdom (against the average +2,4%) and +19,4% in Spain (market at +13,9%).

As for individual brands, Fiat, with almost 59 registrations, grew by 7,1% over the year, with a share of 5,1%, up by 0,3% year on year. 

Lancia / Chrysler in May it registered nearly 5.700 cars and obtained a 0,5% share. In the first five months of the year, there were 29.600 trademark registrations for a share of 0,5%. 

The registrations of Alfa Romeo, on the other hand, there were almost 5.600 in May (0,4% more than a year ago) for a stable share at 0,5%. Jeep recorded the 19th consecutive month of growth: with over 7.500 sales, year-on-year growth was as much as 134,2%. The market share also more than doubled over the year, from 0,3 to 0,7%. 

The sales Jeep increased in all the main European markets with values ​​well above the average: +183,9% in Italy, +46,4% in Germany, +363,1% in France, +210,6% in the United Kingdom, +217,9 .5% in Spain. In addition to the Cherokee, the Renegade drives the brand's results: with almost XNUMX registrations in May, it is consistently among the top ten in its segment. 

The luxury and sports brands Ferrari e Maserati registered a total of 857 cars in May and 4.062 in the progressive year.
