Auto: Italy at peak in 2012 (-19,87%), Fiat slightly better than the market (-19,4%)

For the Turin group, sales last month fell by 20,2%, to 25.385 units, while in the whole of 2012 the Lingotto registered exactly 100 cars less than in 2011, for a decrease of 19,4% to 414.925 .

Vertical drop for the car market in Italy, which in December recorded a decrease of 22,51% on an annual basis, with just 86.735 registrations. In 2012 as a whole, however, sales fell by 19,87%, to 1,4 million. The data was released by the Ministry of Transport.

As for the group Fiat, the situation is slightly less negative than on the market: last month sales fell by 20,2%, to 25.385 units, while in 2012 as a whole the Lingotto registered exactly 100 cars less than in 2011, due to a drop in 19,4% to 414.925. The market share of the Turin company thus rose to 29,26% in December (from the 28,42% recorded in the same period last year) and to 29,59% for the whole of 2012 (29,43% in 2011).

“In 2012 it is the Panda the best-selling car in Italy, with almost 118 registrations and a 44% share in segment A, where it is permanently the most in-demand car. Behind him the Sweaters, Jerseys and Cardigans (almost 80 cars registered during the year) with an 18,7% share in segment B, where it is still the best-selling car. Positive results also for the 500, registered during the year in 43 units, which obtains a 16% share in the A segment. Panda and 500 together hold almost 60% of the city car share”.
