Cars: the most anticipated new models of 2023 for a year that promises to recover

2022 was one bad year for the Italian car market. In 2023, second Unrae, one is expected market recovery with the sale 1,4 million units, a growth of 7,7%.

Automakers try to boost sales with new models. There are many models that will enter the market during the year. Many cars will still have petrol or diesel engines while other models have been designed to introduce batteries.

Here is a list of main models expected to debut during the year:

  • Ferrari Thoroughbred: just announced was a boom in bookings, now the first four-door, four-seater Prancing Horse car is ready to make its debut on the market. List price starts from 390.000 €, the lowest ever for a Ferrari model. At the presentation of the model, the CEO Benedetto Vigna underlined that the Purosangue "is not an SUV, but a real Ferrari", keeping a promise from Sergio Marchionne.
  • Alfa Romeo Brenner: Still uncertainty about the official name of the new Alfa model. It will certainly mount an electric motor (first Alfa Romeo to mount the thermal base) while the price should fluctuate (to be competitive) between 25.000 and 30.000 thousand euros. The plug-in version of the Tonale and a restyling for the Giulia and the Stelvio are also on the way.
  • Maserati Grecale Folgore: it's the new 100% electric medium-sized SUV from the Trident brand. Release is scheduled for summer 2023. The Grecale "Folgore" will be powered by electric motors with 250 kW of power, one for each axle, for an estimated combined power of up to 500 kW (680 HP), which would make it the most powerful mass production model ever produced by Maserati. The price of the cheapest model starts from 75.000 €.
  • jeep avenger: the new Jeep model will arrive in the spring. Pricing starts from 23,300 € for the 1.2 horsepower 100 turbo petrol engine which is designed only for the Italian and Spanish markets. The electric version has a starting price of 35.400 euros.
  • Fiat: in 2023 the heir to the Panda will arrive, which will also be electric. Starting base price will be around 15.000 €.
  • Lamborghini Revuelto and Urus plug-ins: the heir to the Lamborghini Aventador should be called Revuelto, whose debut is expected in the spring of 2023 with prices from approximately EUR 450.000. It will mount a brand new aspirated hybrid V12 assisted by an electric motor powered by an external rechargeable battery. News under the bonnet where an unprecedented electrified powertrain will arrive that will take advantage of supercapacitors to make Lamborghini's hybrid approach always aimed at pure performance. Also arriving in the second half of the year is the Plug-in variant of the Urus.
  • Audi Q6 etron: the brand will launch a cross between the Q4 and the Q8 e-tron on the market. The new Audi SUV should make its debut in the second half of the year in various versions and will see the base list price starting from 60.000 euro.
  • BMW-XM: BMW aims for adrenaline with a new high-performance SUV with a 8-liter twin-turbo V-4,4 engine. BMW XM is the first model of the German company to adopt a plug-in hybrid propulsion system. The car is 5,11 meters long, 2 meters wide and 1,76 meters high (minimum height), with a wheelbase of 3,10 metres. dealership debut expected in April 2023. Prices starting at 135.370 €.
  • Mercedes EQE SUVs and CLE: EQE Suv is the new fully electric model, which has the task of ferrying many customers of the Stuttgart company towards zero emissions. The prices of the new flagship start from 90 thousand euros which will debut in April 2023 The new sedan, the Mercedes CLE, is also on the way, starting price 70.000 euros which will replace the C-Class and E-Class, Coupé and Cabrio.
  • Volkswagen Id.Aero: Volkswagen's new large electric sedan will arrive in the second half of 2023. The sale price is not yet available. Among the novelties also the new series of the Tiguan and some restyling on the T-Cross, Touareg and Id.3
  • Porsche: the new 100% electric Macan will make its debut on the market. The restyling of the Cayenne range is also on the way.
  • Volvo Ex90: the new debutant of the Swedish company will be a 100% electric 7-seater SUV. Starting price over 100 thousand euros. The arrival of a zero-emission model of the new era is expected during the year: a compact SUV that should be called Ex30.
  • Mini: in 2023, the BMW Group brand should present the fourth generation of the Mini hatchback also proposed in the zero-emission version developed with the Great Wall and the new Countryman which will also be in an electric version for the first time. Also on the way is the Mini Concept Aceman, MINI's first fully electric SAV crossover.
  • Smart: electric crossover #1 is out in January. The #1 is a compact (tending towards medium) sized crossover that ushers in the brand's new era. The car is manufactured in China and is available in two and four-wheel drive versions with powertrains, respectively, with power ratings of 272 and 428 horsepower. Base price of 42.000 €.
  • Renault R5: among the novelties of the French house there is the reinterpretation of an icon of the 70s in an electric version, the R5 E-Tech which also brings to the debut a new platform dedicated to battery-powered compact cars. List price around 20.000 €. The Renault Austral and the new Scénic are arriving in the SUV sector, abandoning the world of people carriers to enter that of crossovers.
  • Citroen C3: it will be the fourth series of the small C3, which will rest on the new StlaSmall platform and should only be offered in the Aircross version. In January, the debut for the C4 X, the SUV version of the compact size model.
  • Dacia: the first hybrid of the house will arrive at Dacia which will be mounted on the seven-seater Jogger and on the new Duster. Expected arrival by the end of the year.
  • Peugeot 408: 2023 brings many new features for the French company which is increasingly focusing on electrification. The first mild hybrid engines will be launched, initially on the 3008 and 5008 SUVs. Over the next few months, the electric versions of the 308 and 308 SW will go on sale. The Peugeout 408 fastback makes its debut, halfway between a sedan and an SUV, with a base list price of around 50.000 €.
  • 500 and Abarth: the Abarth brand will debut in electrification with the first electric car, the 500e. The price is 43.000 € and the first deliveries are expected to start in June 2023.
  • Hyundai Ioniq7: the Korean company launches the maxi electric SUV for seven people. The new series of the Kona crossover is also expected.
