Electric cars: Italy allocates 50 million, but spends 6 thousand

Between 2013 and 2015, Italy allocated 50 million euros for the construction of columns that allow you to recharge electric cars. An important investment, given that precisely the scarcity of these hinders the diffusion of vehicles with zero impact on the environment. It is a pity that, as the Court of Auditors denounces, only 6.286 euros of that money have been spent.

The accounting magistrates reveal that the State budgeted 20 million in 2013, 15 million in 2014 and 15 million in 2015 for the construction of the charging stations. In 2009, 19 projects from Regions and Provinces were selected for the rapid construction of the columns, but the 4,54 million allocated never arrived at their destination.

Only in May 2016, writes the Court of Auditors, "were the agreements with the Regions in force which in some cases have not yet been stipulated". And in the end, the only money really spent is the 6286,28 euros paid to the State Printing Office for the publication of the notice.

The Italian Plan for recharging stations, requested by the EU and written for the first time in 2014 (the delay was already a year and a half at the time), was reworked last year. The text promised for 2016 “150 stations on the motorway; 150 road; 150 between ports, airports and car parks”, which however were never built. Result: today in Italy there are 1700 charging points, but all born on the initiative of private individuals (record in Florence, 250, Rome 200, Milan 120).
