Electric cars, Enel X and Pirelli together for more charging stations

Pirelli and Enel X launch the project to spread electric mobility first in Italy and then in the rest of Europe. In addition to the installation of the charging station, there is also a specific training course for the dealer

Electric cars, Enel X and Pirelli together for more charging stations

The signed project is underway Pirelli ed Enel which will lead toinstallation of charging stations of the global business line of the Enel Group for electric cars, in some points of sale of the Driver tire network. The collaboration will immediately involve numerous Pirelli workshops in Italy, then it will be the turn of Spain and other European countries with a roadmap in definition. The charging station at the Pirelli Driver centers will be available in different sizes depending on the characteristics of the area and the volume of traffic in the workshop.

In particular, the new agreement between Pirelli and Enel X is part of a European project for the development of Driver services for the e-mobility, a segment in constant growth and to which the Pirelli Driver workshops will devote ever more attention in the offer of services. In fact, in addition to the installation of the charging station, the project also includes a specific training course for the retailer.

As far as the Enel Group company is concerned, it will make chargers available to Driver dealers among the 22 KW and 50 KW of power, capable of recharging multiple vehicles at the same time. If the Pirelli Driver workshops decide to install charging infrastructures accessible to the public, they will be visible on the apps of various Mobility Service Providers, such as Juice Pass by Enel X, the easy and intuitive app to use that allows you to search for the nearest charging stations, book them, pay for them and constantly monitor the vehicle's charging status.

Currently, they are approx 13 thousand top-up points installed by Enel X in Italy; these also include the new HPC (High Power Charging), chargers with a power of up to 350 KW that allow an electric vehicle to be recharged in about 20 minutes.

Pirelli has already developed a specific range of tires for electric cars - reads a note - called Pirelli Elect, which guarantees low rolling resistance allowing lower energy consumption and a consequent increase in battery life, limited noise on board, immediate grip to cope with the typical torque of the engines electric motors and a structure suitable for supporting the weight of the vehicle, which is higher than those with internal combustion engines due to the presence of the battery pack.

Furthermore, the development of products that look at the new mobility is consistent with the strategy of sustainability of Pirelli, whose commitment is demonstrated by the continuous Research and Development activity in the field of materials and processes. The Eco Safety Design approach of Pirelli's R&D department, in particular, aims to maximize respect for the environment in new products and safety for people travelling, embracing the entire product life cycle right from its design.

By 2025, Pirelli aims to reduce emissions by 25% reduction of CO2 compared to 2015 and use 100% renewable electricity, allowing the group to achieve carbon neutrality in 2030 for both electricity and heat. For this reason, the project represents a contribution to support the diffusion of electric mobility which today still finds many limits due to the lack of capillarity of the recharging infrastructure.

“Pirelli continues with ever greater determination on the road to sustainability, starting from the product with the utmost attention to its entire life cycle, which begins with careful choices on the materials used and ends with the possibility of recovering parts of the tire once it has been discarded – he has declared Daniele Deambrogio, CEO of Pirelli Italy -. The contribution that we will make together with Enel X to the charging infrastructure for electric cars, the first problem in the diffusion of these vehicles, is a new stage in Pirelli's journey towards an ever lower environmental impact and confirms the company's broad vision towards of sustainability".

“Enel X's strategy for the rapid spread of electric mobility necessarily involves partnerships with the most important operators in the sector. - he has declared Augusto Raggi, Head of Enel X Italy -. The agreement with Pirelli is the natural consequence of this approach, because it is a partner with whom we share the vision of sustainable mobility of the present and the future. We will bring advanced recharging technologies to driver tire specialists, making it possible to recharge vehicles easily and in total comfort, offering a service that will allow us to bring people even closer to the world of electric vehicles".
