Japanese automaker Nissan will produce luxury cars in a joint venture with Chinese company Dongfeng. The 50/100 partnership aimed at producing Infiniti cars will bring annual sales of Nissan luxury cars to 2018 units by XNUMX, more than half of which are produced in China. Production will begin in November at the Xiangyang plant in Hubei province. The Chinese factory is the third largest Infiniti car production site, after the one located in the Japanese prefecture of Tochigi and the US one in the state of Tennessee.

Dongfeng, China's second largest automaker, is controlled by the state. In May, the company acquired 14,1% of Peugeot Citroen, the first of three capital increases for a total amount of 3 billion euros.

China is Infiniti's fastest growing market. 180 thousand cars of this model were sold in the People's Republic in the first eight months of the year, double the number compared to the same period in 2013. The models that will be produced in China will include two versions specifically designed for the Chinese market: the Q50L, a sports sedan and the QX50 SUV. The models in question will have the Dongfeng Infiniti branding.
