A new blue car auction starts on Government eBay store. From Thursday 26 February they are put 33 cars for sale of the Ministry of Defence. The sale will be staggered into three lots and each auction will last 7 days. The first 10 cars can be purchased until Thursday 5 March, the remaining 23 to follow in the following weeks. These are cars from various manufacturers (Alfa, BMW, Fiat, Lancia), with registration years between 2002 and 2012.

So far, the Government has auctioned 118 cars via eBay, but there have been sold only 82, of which 35 BMWs, 21 Lancias, 15 Alfa Romeos, 6 Audis (4 of which armored), 3 Subaru, 2 Jaguars. Of the cars sold, 61 came from the Ministry of the Interior (55 from the State Police, 6 from the National Fire Brigade), 5 from the Ministry of Defense (Regimento di Manovra Interforze) and 16 from the Ministry of Justice (Department of Administration prison).

PRICES

The average starting price of the auction for each car was equal to 7.288 euro, while the final one of 8.561 euros. If the cars had been sold at the auction-based value price, the proceeds would have been equal to 597.585 euros, while the total proceeds to date amount to 701.987 euros, with a capital gain given by the raises equal to 104.402 euros. The proceeds from the sales go into a fund aimed at reducing the deficit.

The buyers who bought the cars previously put up for sale are evenly distributed throughout Italy (23 in the north, 24 in the centre, 30 in the south), but there are also some surprises: 5 cars were purchased from abroad, 3 in Germany and 2 in France.

In particular, one of the two Audi A8s of the Ministry of the Interior used by the Presidents Emeritus of the Republic was purchased in Germany. More than 1 million users visited the online shop, specially opened by the Prime Minister on the eBay platform, and a total of 82 offers on the 1.377 cars sold.
