Auto: sales increase in Europe, FCA goes up

The European market is back on track in April (+9,6%) – The Italian one is doing less well (+6,5%) – Fiat Chrysler grows by 2,3% overall and records a 75% leap for registrations with the Jeep brand . Alfa Romeo also did well, the 500 confirming itself as the best-selling in its segment

In April, car registrations in Europe increased by 9,6% to 1.348.659 units. In Italy, on the other hand, there was a less significant increase, of 6,5%, to 171.379 new registrations. Also in Italy, in the first four months, there were 745.945 new registrations, up by 0,2% compared to 744.131 in the same period of 2017.

Less brilliant than the FCA market average, which in April saw sales increase by 2,3%, to 91.279 registrations. This was announced by the Acea builders' association, specifying that the Lingotto market share dropped to 6,8% from 7,3% in April 2017.

In the first four months, registrations of the FCA group amounted to 381.594 from 392.379 in the first four months of 2017. Registrations with the Fiat brand amounted to 63.922 in April from 66.947 in the same month of 2017. A 75% jump for registrations with Jeep brand which rose to 14.441 from 8.251 in April 2017. In the first quarter of 2018, Jeep registrations increased from 35.407 to 55.940, an increase of 58 percent. Alfa Romeo is also up, increasing sales by 6,3
per cent in April and 13,2 per cent overall for the year: “Stelvio (which confirms the
leadership in its segment in Italy) and Giulia – states the Lingotto press release – are the models driving the growth of the brand. The Fiat 500 is the best-selling car in segment A and compared to a year ago, registrations increased by 6,7%. Behind it the Panda, while 500X and 500L still one
time are at the top positions of their segments”.
