Auto, Amazon and Stellantis together to innovate the industry

In gears geared towardsconnected car. Stellantis and Amazon have announced a series of global agreements e multi-year with the aim of facilitating the transition of mobility towards a more sustainable and efficient future. On the one hand the technology of Jeff Bezos' group in areas such as digital experience, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, on the other the engineering of the Italian-French automotive group with its portfolio of 14 brands.

The new collaboration in automotive industry it involves Amazon Devices, Amazon Web Services (Aws) and Amazon Last Mile and will allow the group born from the merger of FCA with PSA to accelerate connected and personalized experiences on board cars. The process will involve vehicle development phases, building connected in-car experiences, and training the next generation of automotive software engineers. Together, the two companies will create a suite of products and services that will integrate with customers' digital lives, adding value over time through periodic over-the-air software updates.

The agreement between the two groups will focus on different areas, one of which is the new platform for the digital cockpit SmartCockpit globally operational from 2024. The platform will integrate with customers' digital lives to create a personalized in-vehicle experience. In addition, the development work on the Stla SmartCockpit will take advantage of Mobile Drive, the joint venture established in 2021 by Stellantis and Foxconn to develop digital cockpits and customized connected services.

Among other points, Stellantis and AWS plan to launch a new global learning path, called Agile-Auto Software and Data Academy, which will focus on software, data and cloud technology. By 2024, Stellantis will form le technological skills of over 5 developers and engineers to accelerate its transformation into a data-driven enterprise in the cloud.

And as part of a separate deal, Amazon will be the first commercial customer of the new battery electric vehicle Ram ProMaster, which will be launched by 2023.

Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, said: “By leveraging artificial intelligence and cloud solutions, we will transform our vehicles into personalized living spaces and improve the overall customer experience. Our cars will become more captivating and sought-after, appreciable even when not driving.”
