Auto, Acea: EU sales -8,7% in May, Fiat -12,1%

Eighth consecutive monthly decline – In the first five months of the year, Lingotto achieved a market share of 6,7%, against the 7,4% recorded in the same period of 2011.

The free fall of the auto sector in Europe continues. Sales in the EU27 fell by 8,7% in May. In the first five months of the year the drop was 7,7%. According to Acea data – the association of European car manufacturers – this is the eighth consecutive month of decline.

In total, 1.106.845 new cars were registered last month, while in the first five months the figure stands at 5.442.326. bad especially theItaly (-14,3%) and France (-16.2%), while in Germany the contraction stood at 4,8% and in Spain at 8,2%. Only in Great Britain was there a growth (+7,9%). 

From the statistics for the period January-May one emerges Germany stable (+0,3%) andEngland which scores a +2,6%. Spain down (-7,3%), France down (-17,2%) and Italy (-18,9%).

Soffers Fiat, which last month saw its registrations in Europe drop by 12,1%, to 82.501 units, against the 93.840 registered in the same period of 2011. In the first 5 months of the year, the Lingotto registered 375.795 vehicles in Europe, down by 16,6% on an annual basis. 

In May, Fiat Group Automobiles recorded a 7,2% market share in Europe, against 7,5% a year ago, while in January-May the group obtained a 6,7% share, from 7,4. 2011% in the same period of XNUMX.
