Transport Authority operational from today

The new Transport Authority is operational from today. Undersecretary Erasmo D'Angelis met with the Authority's president, Andrea Camanzi, at the Ministry of Infrastructure, "on the first day of operation of the new public service regulator, to take stock of the sector's conditions", reads a note.

“I anticipated to the new Authority – explains D'Angelis – the lines of reform on which we have worked in recent months and which will be the subject of a forthcoming bill linked to the stability law. We urgently need to intervene to reduce the various critical issues in the sector, from the excessive fragmentation of businesses to financial difficulties and delays compared to the rest of European countries”.

“The application of the standard costs which will be defined in the next few weeks and the tendering of the managements with the identification of new catchment areas is decisive – adds the undersecretary –. The common goal is to put an end to inefficiencies and critical issues. The first legislative provisions and the financial commitments of the government, after years of absence, for the renewal of the vehicle fleet make it possible to achieve higher levels of quality of services with European standards".
