Audiweb, internet: smartphones and tablets surpass the PC
We surf the Internet, we surf a lot and, surprisingly, we surf mainly on mobile devices: smartphones and tablets. This is certified by the data from Audiweb which, in order to be able to keep up with the times, has implemented a new system for detecting the internet audience, including the use of apps and sites for mobile devices.

The data was presented during the conference "Iab Seminar Mobile Marketing & Advertising" and is surprising: in March, 25 million Italians between the ages of 18 and 74 are online, connected on average for 46 hours and 15 minutes in the month. And there are 7,4 million Italians who access the internet only from mobiles (37% of online users on an average day), more than those who do so from computers only (5,3 million PCs only) and the aggregate figure between the two devices (7,2 million PCs and mobiles).

The overtaking has therefore been accomplished, at least here in Italy, where we spend more time online with smartphones and tablets than with PCs: 38 hours and 21 minutes, against 20 hours and 57 minutes, driven by the rapid growth of tablets, +112% compared to last year. With their smartphones, Italians mainly use social networks (59%), sites or applications related to the world of mobile phones (99%), various entertainment contents (71%), portals (73%).

Among young people, the Internet has also surpassed television: between 6 and 21, for 18-24 year olds, the network is the main means of information, communication and entertainment. Only after nine in the evening, television slowly catches up with their habits.
