Audi and Enel for electric mobility in Cortina

The development of services dedicated to electric mobility and the creation of a widespread charging infrastructure. One month after the announcement, Enel and Audi Italia are back in Cortina to illustrate further details of the agreement which provides for specific solutions dedicated to those who will purchase the new Audi e-tron, the first 100% electric SUV, directly from the Brand's dealer network. four rings. Furthermore, to make the life of electric car drivers easier and worry-free, Enel and the Municipality of Cortina have signed an agreement for the installation of public charging stations in the municipal area; making Cortina one of the first administrations to adhere to the national infrastructure plan presented in November at the Vallelunga racetrack by the electricity group.

"We are happy to be back in Cortina to continue to tell our commitment to the development of electric mobility in Italy - he says Francesco Venturini, head of Enel X (read the interview with FIRSTonline) -. The agreement with Audi Italia will allow whoever purchases an electric car to subscribe and organize all the operations for the installation of a private recharging infrastructure by speaking to a single interlocutor. Furthermore, it will also be possible to fill up with energy at one of the public charging stations that we will install in Cortina thanks to the agreement with the Ampezzo municipality. Finally, our infrastructural plan provides for the strengthening of the extra-urban electric recharging network which will make it easier for electric cars to reach Cortina from the major Italian cities. Together with the Cortina 2021 Foundation, we will launch a series of concrete initiatives to encourage travel on board electric vehicles and continue to develop the charging infrastructure in view of the 2021 Alpine Ski World Championships".

“The path towards zero-emission mobility through the use of electric technology is irreversible and Audi will be the protagonist thanks to an unprecedented investment which includes an electrification plan for 20 models over the next 7 years,” he said. Fabrizio Longo, Director of Audi Italy. “Within a few months we will introduce the Audi e-tron, the first all-electric car in the four rings that will redefine the concept of the premium all-wheel drive SUV. To make the new technology actually usable by the customer, we deemed it essential to develop an infrastructure and a dedicated service programme. Hence the agreement with Enel which will allow access to electricity technology without having to worry about access to the recharging network. An agreement that came to life not by chance in Cortina, where Audi is a partner of the locality and of the Cortina 2021 Foundation to actively contribute together with Enel to the electrification plan of urban mobility in anticipation of the appointment with the Alpine Ski World Championships“.

The agreement between Enel and Audi Italia will make it possible to offer a complete package of services and private charging infrastructure available at the car manufacturer's dealership network to private customers, small businesses or professionals who will purchase the new Audi e-tron from next autumn . In particular, the services relating to the verification of the conditions for the installation of a private charging wallbox, the support for the request for power increase, as well as the supply and installation of a new concept wallbox will be offered. In addition, each Audi e-tron customer will have the opportunity to access Enel's public charging infrastructure through a dedicated profile on the "e-go top-up app": a turnkey, integrated and electric solution.

Thanks to the agreement between Enel and the Municipality of Cortina, it will also be possible to use the public quick and fast charging stations, which will be installed in the Ampezzo area. The extension of the recharging infrastructure to include the most important ski resort in Italy, as well as expanding the possibility of using e-cars outside the urban environment as well, will make it possible to increase the offer of tourist services also for those who drive electric.

“We are very happy and proud to be one of the first Italian municipalities to have joined the national plan for the creation of a capillary recharging infrastructure for electric vehicles launched by Enel – says Gianpietro Ghedina, Mayor of Cortina D'Ampezzo. “For Cortina, this is an opportunity that once again demonstrates our commitment to the protection of nature and in particular of the mountain environment to make our Municipality increasingly sustainable. We are sure that this agreement will continue in the coming years with the aim of achieving almost totally sustainable mobility in view of the 2021 Alpine Ski World Championships".

Enel X was born within the Enel Group, the company dedicated to the development of electric mobility and digital services for customers, cities, companies and the public administration. To encourage the spread of zero-emission mobility in Italy, Enel has launched a national plan for the installation of recharging infrastructure: around 7 columns by 2020 to reach 14 in 2022. The program provides for widespread coverage in all Italian Regions and foresees that already in 2018 over 2.500 recharging infrastructures will be installed throughout the national territory.

The Plan also includes the EVA+ (Electric Vehicles Arteries) project co-financed by the European Commission in which Audi itself participates together with other manufacturers, which provides for the installation by October 2018 of 180 fast charging points along extra-urban sections Italian. The first 43 Fast columns installed make it possible to travel, among others, on the Rome-Milan, Milan-Turin, Milan-Genoa and Rome-Florence Bologna Modena Ferrara routes on board an electric car.
