Atlantia: France awards 850 million to Ecomouv

The French government will award 850 million to the Ecomouv consortium if the toll system implemented by the joint venture led by Atlantia is canceled in January – Breton protests over French tax policy have blocked the entry into force of the ecotax since October 2013.

Atlantia: France awards 850 million to Ecomouv

The French government will pay 850 million euros to the Ecomouv consortium led by Atlantia at 70%, if the tolling system were to be canceled in January. The consortium in question, in fact, entered into a contract with the French government to build and manage a toll system for heavy traffic on the extra-urban network, before the eco-tax was suspended, from October 2013 to the whole of 2014.

With this agreement, therefore, the French government recognizes the validity and functionality of the system and therefore pays the consortium 850 million euros, of which 650 for the value of the investment and 200 for operating costs in the event of cancellation. The Breton protest on the French government's fiscal policy blocked the entry into force of the eco-tax (the proceeds of which would be used to finance infrastructure works to reduce the environmental impact of the transport system).
