At Atlantia, after the CEO of Castellucci also the president of Autostrade per l'Italia, Cerchiai announces his resignation: it is the inevitable earthquake of the collapse of the Morandi bridge in Genoa with the rain of judicial and economic aftermath and the fall in image which resulted.
“In the light of the new dimension and complexity reached by the Atlantia Group, following the completion of the acquisition of Abertis, the Chairman Fabio Cerchiai has anticipated his intention to formalize his resignation from the Board and from his office once the process of identification of his replacement". This is what we read in a note released at the end of the board meeting.
“Finally, it should be remembered that the Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Castellucci, had already publicly expressed his intention, following the Abertis closing, to resign from his position, as had been envisaged since last August 3rd. The Board of Directors has conferred a mandate on Eng. Castellucci to start the procedures for identifying his replacement".
