Photography auction, all sold for Jodice and Basilico

Among the successes of the auction we note the sale of all the shots by Mimmo Jodice and Gabriele Basilico. Seven telephones in the competition, accompanied by a packed room to win the work of Jodice, Atleti dalla “Villa dei Papiri”, 7.500,00, for €1985, which started from a minimum estimate of €1300.

It closed with €325.925,00 of hammered value, 64% of lots sold and 118,4% in value, the first auction of the Department of Photography – Il Ponte Casa d'Aste – directed by Silvia Berselli. “Quality and variety in the offer have been rewarding. It might seem risky to combine research photography and photojournalism, inserting small lots, but photography has this beauty: it is a multifaceted, communicative language, only apparently easy. Authors who know how to use it sensitively can count on curious and well-prepared collectors”, these are the words of the expert.

Competing to win the 255 lots at auction, the packed room, numerous telephones and the online public, with very high percentages of foreign customers: from American and Asian collectors to German and English ones.

Top lot of the auction Mimesis, 1975 di Michael Zaza, awarded for €15.000,00, followed by Fukase Masahisa with the first one Yoko sold for €13.750,00 and the second at €7.500,00.

The Japanese photographer, the true revelation of the auction, confirms the public's interest in research photography and entrusts one of the best awards to a niche of connoisseurs.

The interest in the Italians is confirmed by the awards of the works of Luigi ghirri which reaches €7.500,00 with Versailles, 1985 e Rimini, from the Ailati 1977 seriesawarded for the same amount.

On the other hand, the maximum estimate of the shot is doubled Mario Giacomelli I have no hands to caress my face from the "Pretini" series, sold for €6.250,00.

Among the international names in the catalogue, excellent awards have been recorded for Roni Horn(lot 231, sold for €7.500,00) e Candida Hofer (lot 232, sold for €6.250,00).

A positive debut for the newborn department which reconfirms the interest and the ferment that the sector is experiencing and the excellent choice of the director who has managed to build a sale capable of satisfying a vast range of tastes and styles without sacrificing quality and singularity of the selected pieces.
