Hiring 2022: half a million new jobs in July, 1,3 million by September according to the Excelsior Bulletin

There are over half a million, 505 to be precise assumptions what businesses are planning to do a July, which becomes 1,3 million in the quarter from July to September. These are the estimates contained in the Bulletin of the Excelsior information system, realized by Unioncamere and Anpal, which processes the employment forecasts for the current month.

Excelsior bulletin: fewer hires than in previous months

Compared to a month ago, hiring is down by 9,7%, while compared to July 2021 the drop is 5,4%. However, if we consider the hirings expected in the July-September 2022 quarter, the data are substantially at the same levels as in the July-September 2021 quarter (-0,1%), reads the Excelsior bulletin, which underlines how the difficulties in finding resources continue.

Recruitment: what are the sectors in which it is easier to find work?

In the first place we find services, sector in which there are around 375 employment contracts that companies expect to activate (down by 52 compared to a month ago) and just under 930 those expected for the July-September quarter (-14 compared to the same quarter of 2021). It follows the industry which in July is planning around 130 thousand hires (-1.390 compared to June, -7 thousand compared to July 2021) and 349 thousand in the July-September quarter (+12,5 thousand compared to the same period of the previous year).

Among the manufacturing sectors, the analysis highlights higher hiring flows in industries food, drink and tobacco (21 thousand admissions, over 8 thousand more than in June) followed by industries mechanical and electronic (20 entries) and from industries metallurgical and metal products (16 thousand admissions). For the construction 41 hires are expected, a figure down on June (-10,5%), but up on twelve months ago (+4,2%). 

Among the services, the most consistent flow of recruitments in July concerned lto the tourist chain with about 121 contracts to be activated, trade follows with 65 hirings and personal services (64). Positive trends for i computer and telecommunications services with 14 scheduled hires and for i advanced business support services with 21 hires (+5,2% and +7,7% respectively if compared with the previous month). 

For the type of contract, those with fixed-term contracts represent 58% of the expected income, followed by permanent contracts (16%), temporary contracts (10%) and apprenticeship contracts (5%). The other types of contracts will cover the remaining 11% of planned revenues. 

Mismatch: Increases the gap between supply and demand 

The so-called mismatch affects 40,3% of hires expected, about 10 points more than in July 2021. In numbers there are about 204 thousand personnel searches for which companies declare difficulty in finding them, confirming the lack of candidates for the profiles sought as the main cause.

To meet the most critical issues on the market are the companies of metallurgy and metal products (about 56% of the profiles sought is difficult to find) followed by the industries of wood-furniture (55%) and come on ICT services and by construction companies (for both 54%). 

Among the most difficult profiles to find stand out, as reported in Purse of professions, technicians for the management of the production processes of goods and services (65,3% are difficult to find), technicians in the engineering field (57,0%), health technicians (56,4%), IT technicians , telematics and telecommunications (55,6%) and specialists in mathematics, information technology and science (54,9%). Among the skilled workers, the greatest difficulties are found for smelters and welders (65,7%), workers working on machines for working metal and mineral products (63,9%), workers assigned to finishing constructions (60,1%) and workers installation and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment (59,8%).

At the territorial level they are North East companies to encounter the greatest difficulties in finding (for 47,2% of the figures sought), followed by those of the North West (41,5%), Center (39,0%) and South and Islands (34,7%).
