“The markets, finance and its instruments are useful and necessary. On the contrary, they can and must make a fundamental contribution to overcoming the crisis”. This is the opinion of Michele Calzolari, president of Assosim, who spoke this morning at the opening of the conference entitled "Italian intermediaries between the national market and global competition, in the light of an evolving European scenario". The meeting was organized for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the foundation of the Italian association of securities brokers.
"However, it is essential – added Calzolari – that the somewhat populist drift of ever new rules and new taxes on securities does not end up throwing the baby (the market) out with the bathwater". The president of Assosim concluded by arguing that "the development, also on the market", of SMEs, "can give rise to an important boost for the Italian economy and financial centre".
