Assopopolari presents new books on cooperative banks

The Association has published three new volumes on the history of popular credit in Europe - De Lucia Lumeno: "We express the international vocation and territorial roots of our companies"

Assopopolari, the association of Italian popular banks, has published two new books on the history of popular credit in Europe: Luigi Albertini and cooperation in Europe, Popular banks: the history of Italy and its protagonists e Popular Banks and the Association at the Paris Universal Exposition. The prefaces to the first two volumes were written by Professor Giulio Sapelli, while the preface of the third book is signed by Dominique Martinie.

"The publishing activity is part of a broader program of initiatives aimed at making known and enhancing the role of Credito Popolare and the contribution it gives to the economic, political and social construction of the Italian state in its nascent phase", reads the note by Assopopolari.

According to Giuseppe De Lucia Lumeno, general secretary of the Association and author of the publications, “the international vocation and territorial roots, increasingly invoked in the planning of the future, have always been the constituent elements of Credito Popolare. Retracing this history, as our Association does, means putting this useful and indispensable global and local heritage at the service of the present and the future of the country”.
