Assopopolari: growing loans and deposits in 2016

The data, updated to October 2016, indicate significant growth in loans in particular, thanks also to the 30 billion euro of new loans to small and medium-sized enterprises.

Cooperative banks strengthen their commitment to local economies and their reference customers. The data, updated to October 2016, indicate a significant growth in loans. A result achieved also thanks to the 30 billion euro of new loans to small and medium-sized enterprises and the 12 billion euro of new mortgages disbursed to families for the purchase of homes.

Added to these results are those highlighted by household deposits which grew overall by 5,7% in one year involving all geographical areas of the country, with increases of 7,7% in the North-West regions, 5,6% in those of the North East, 5,5% in the Center and 2,4% in the South.

"In a context that is still evolving today - said the Secretary General of the National Association of Popular Banks, Giuseppe De Lucia Lumeno - these data confirm that the link with the local area and customers, that proximity and governance tends to enhance, are the basis of the positive results achieved and still represent a driving factor for the development of the country's economic and entrepreneurial fabric. A capacity for action and intervention aimed at meeting the needs of the territories and pursued by the cooperative banks while maintaining high standards of reliability and capital solidity".
