Stefano Firpo is the new general manager of Assonime. The appointment came in the context of the Governing Council of the Association of Italian Joint-Stock Companies held on 6 October. Firmo takes office today and happens to Stephen Micossi who for 23 years ensured the operational guide of the association.
Who is Stefano Firpo? Origins and career of the new director of Assonime
Forty-nine years old, from Turin, during his career Firpo has held managerial roles in the private sector, but also positions of responsibility in public administrations. Until a few weeks ago he was head of Cabinet of the Minister for Technological Innovation and Digital TransitionVittorio Colao. In this role he designed and followed the implementation of all PA digitization projects included in the PNRR. He also followed the preparation of the national strategy on Artificial Intelligence and oversaw the intervention policies in the space and aerospace fields.
Previously, Firpo held the position dthe general manager of Mediocredito Italian and was director general for industrial policy, competitiveness and small and medium-sized enterprises at the Ministry of Economic Development and Head of the Technical Secretariat of the Minister of Economic Development, covering these roles from the Monti government to the Conte government. In this position he designed and implemented the national legislation on innovative startups and SMEs and the National Industry 4.0 Plan. As drafter of the Destinazione Italia Report and member of the Finance Group for Growth, he worked on the attraction of foreign investments in Italy, on the liberalization of corporate bond issues and on measures to stimulate private equity investments. He is Knight of the Order of Merit of Italian Republic.
