Assonime, today in the meeting, President Abete will propose a tax reform with the "patrimonial"

It is not a trivial novelty that the president Luigi Abete will propose to today's assembly. Together with an ambitious tax reform project – which essentially calls for lowering Irpef and Ires and raising VAT rates – Abete will uncover the cards on the "patrimonial". It's a sign of the times.

Assonime, today in the meeting, President Abete will propose a tax reform with the "patrimonial"

It will not be a routine meeting that Assonime will celebrate today. The glorious and centennial association of the major listed companies will put on the table an organic proposal for tax reform which has the ambition of flushing out the political forces and contributing with high-profile technical suggestions to the definition of one of the most awaited reforms. But the novelty of the novelties will be the explicit proposal of a property tax even if differently denominated which, according to Assonime, should serve to raise resources to finance the reform. “We – declared Luigi Abete in an interview given to Paola Pilati in the latest issue of L'Espresso – propose a minimum ordinary tax to be paid by natural persons which refers to assets. One per thousand is enough (the seventh of what is paid in Switzerland) to raise 9 billion with which to pay almost all the IRES cut that we propose. Basically, whoever has 50 million in assets would pay 50 thousand euros and whoever has one million would have to pay a thousand euros”. Assonime obviously does not exclude a deductible for minor assets and thinks that the cornerstone of the reform should consist of the reduction of Irpef rates for the lower classes and a reduction of IRES and a simultaneous increase in VAT rates. But neither the VAT increase nor the fight against tax evasion, while necessary, would be enough to make ends meet. Hence the idea of a sort of patrimonial.
