Assolombarda, Bonomi in government: "Give us concrete facts"

Enough words, discontinuity is needed and concrete facts are needed. An example? "To reduce the tax wedge, 14 billion are needed, not 2". Carlo Bonomi, president of Assolombarda and potential candidate to succeed Vincenzo Boccia at the helm of Confindustria, launched his lunge during the association's annual meeting in Milan. A particular occasion, underlined by the headquarters – it was held at La Scala – and by the guests present: not only the Gotha of Italian industry, but also the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and local politicians, the mayor of Milan Beppe Sala first of all.

“President – Bonomi said to Conte – we want to be clear with you. We appreciate the new resolutions. But let's not forget what we've seen and heard in the previous 14 months. Let's not forget that that government promised to eradicate poverty, instead it returned us to stagnation".

An example of what Bonomi means was provided by himself, not surprisingly citing the Alitalia node.

At every Assembly we found a government that told us that for Alitalia there was a market solution around the corner, with a bridging loan that was supposed to last three months, then six, then nine. More than 28 months have passed: the bridging loan has become permanent, and there is still no solution. And the one still indicated today is not a market solution: it is to re-nationalise it. And we here in Assolombarda, looking at the numbers, just can't understand why, all the parties from left to right want to re-state it".
“I use the example of Alitalia – said Bonomi – to underline the real discontinuities that we expect.

"'Italy has a new opportunity, which did not exist until a few months ago. And that it was decided by European citizens, at the polls Bonomi said. now it is up to Italian politics to understand and put to good use the new conditions that have been created".

A mention of the 2020 maneuver could not be omitted. "We don't need a few billion to cut the wedge, we need at least 13 or 14, certainly not the 2 billion and something we read about in the Nadef", the recently approved update note of the Def by the government. The president of Assolombarda asks the government for interventions decided with the Budget Law. "Don't answer us with a list of 27 or 39 different proposals" he continued, rejecting both the tax on snacks and that on cash. “Don't talk to us about a new humanism and a new Renaissance – is the conclusion – this time amaze us. Italy is at a standstill, tell us three essential things that the Government intends to do to relaunch it”. In his speech he also asked to stop "the negative experiment of Quota 100" and "the uprooting of labor policies from the basic income".

To Bonomi's summons, Conte replied by saying that the doors of Palazzo Chigi are always open. "We want to grow and change - he underlined - and only together will it be possible to provide concrete answers".
