Asset management, Assogestioni: in 2022 funding is close to 20 billion. Equities still shine

The Italian industry of managed savings closes 2022 on a high note. In December the collection net income of the asset management industry is 11,1 billion euros, a sharp increase compared to 268 million in November, bringing the total for the whole of 2022 to 19,764 billion. “The figure on net inflows in December was determined almost entirely by institutional mandates, whose flows follow dynamics on which market trends have a lesser influence than in the retail world. While awaiting the definitive quarterly reading, the encouraging signal comes in my opinion from open funds, with equities that continue to catalyze the interest of investors, consolidating a long-term oriented trend that has been going on for some time now", he observed Alessandro Rota, Research Department Director, Assogestioni.

Collective and portfolio management

Indeed, the numbers confirm the resilience of the open funds, which in December recorded 1,14 billion euros of inflows and, in particular, that of products equity, positive for 1,39 billion euros, which continue to hold the reins of the system. Plus sign also for i bond funds (+375 million), while those remain in the red balanced (-342 million). Despite the positive figure for December, bond funds closed the year with a heavy - 16,7 billion, while for flexible funds the red was 5,7 billion.

For the closed-end funds on the other hand, the collection was 444 million euros. The amount of collective management assets thus stands at 1.160 billion euros, equivalent to 52,4% of the total.

In terms of portfolio managementinstitutional mandates achieved €8,7 billion in net inflows in December, while retail mandates totaled €872 million. Assets under management amount to 1.055 billion euros, equal to 47,6% of the total.

In second place is Allianz with 2,5 billion euros and in third place is Poste Italiane with 1,9 billion. On the other hand, important redemptions for Generali (-1,5 billion).
