More and more Italians choose to take out travel insurance for their pet. According to a Eurispes survey (Italian Report 2016 and 2017) at least half of households have a pet: 22,5% own one, 13,4% two or three, and 7,4% of Italians declare that they live with four or more pets. A third of Italians declare that they have at least one dog (62%) or a cat (40,8%). For them, Genertel, the direct company of Generali Italia, has launched the new 4 Paws on Board car liability insurance.
In addition to compensation for injuries suffered by the animal in the event of a road accident, the guarantee includes reimbursement of all necessary medical expenses following veterinary treatment (operating theatre, stay in a veterinary clinic, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, medicines and guardians ) up to a ceiling of 2000 euros. Furthermore, in the event of the animal's death, Genertel will issue a further refund, net of treatment costs.
The company has also launched a new liability insurance Collision with wild animals. In this case, the coverage offers reimbursement for damage caused to the upholstery or interior of the car for the transport of the injured animal and provides for compensation in the event of direct and material damage suffered by the vehicle.
