Aruba creates the largest campus data center in Italy

Global Cloud Data Center is born: Aruba announces the largest campus data center in Italy. Just 30 km from Milan, Aruba builds its third Italian data center and starts bookings for those who want to secure a space within the technology campus. 200.000 square meters, completely ecological, equipped with the most modern technologies, the structure was created with the aim of supporting Italy's digital growth and being one of the main cloud hubs.

Aruba creates the largest campus data center in Italy

Aruba SpA announces the pre-opening of the largest data center campus in Italy, in Ponte San Pietro (Bergamo). Global Cloud Data Center was designed to meet the colocation and IT infrastructure management needs of Italian and foreign companies and the Public Administration and to represent one of the main cloud hubs.

The strategic location in northern Italy at the gates of the city of Milan, the use of maximum technology, the high levels of energy efficiency in total respect for the environment and the advanced security systems make the data center the ideal infrastructure capable of host any computer system.

Global Cloud Data Center was designed and built with the aim of exceeding market standards in terms of reliability and performance and being able to cover every need also in terms of future expansion, given the vastness of the area: from the single server dedicated to both physical and cloud complex infrastructural solutions, through the design of cages, data rooms and entire dedicated data centres, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions, up to the complete outsourcing of the infrastructure, in addition to all the available facilities to complete the offer, such as for example multicarrier connectivity, routing, hardware supply or again, multifunctional spaces intended to satisfy the most varied logistical needs, being able to have, for example, temporary offices, warehouses, rooms and workstations for use by customers.

The range of services is aimed at large Italian and foreign companies, the Public Administration, IT operators and SMEs, local authorities, system integrators and Telcos.

Global Cloud Data Center is connected to the main national and international carriers and has a proprietary dark fiber infrastructure which provides a double route to the Caldera Business Park in Milan, with almost unlimited transport capacity.

An important distinctive aspect of the campus is linked to its unique characteristics which allow for the maximization of energy efficiency. Aruba, already today, uses only 100% energy produced from renewable sources for its data centers, the origin of which is certified. In the new area, the energy supply will be guaranteed by multiple connections to the external utility, a hydroelectric plant and a photovoltaic plant, both owned. Furthermore, a very high efficiency geothermal cooling system allows to obtain the maximum yield with a very reduced use of energy power. In addition, all plants have been designed and built to meet and exceed the maximum resilience levels set by ANSI/TIA 4-A Rating 4 (former Tier 942) level.

As a further guarantee of the reliability of the data center and the entire campus, the fact that the area has not historically been affected by natural events such as earthquakes and floods contributes. Finally, the area is easily accessible, being located within easy reach of three international airports (BGY, LIN and MXP), and is close to the high-speed rail and motorway networks.

The first data center in the area is active and over 4 MW of power – of the 90 MW planned for the entire campus – has already been sold and is fully functional. Its full operation will be achieved during the summer and its inauguration will take place on 5 October 2017.

“By creating our third data center in Italy, we have responded both to the needs of our enterprise customers, who asked us for a structure in northern Italy that was large enough to give space for their future growth, and to our need for growth in the cloud has taken on very important dimensions.– declared Stefano Cecconi, CEO of Aruba SpA – We conceived the Global Cloud Data Center with the aim of having no space and resource limits and we wanted to make it completely eco-sustainable, thinking about the environment but also to the convenience of limiting consumption, raising the standards of reliability and safety in order to exceed the highest levels of certification in the data center field.”

Reservations to secure a space within the Global Cloud Data Center are already open.
