Art and Environment: moving gently between the Italian villages

In May "Arte a pedali" will kick off where the public will cycle along cycle paths together with the musicians. For those who love walking, the Rete dei cammini organizes specific gatherings, just as the Italian Hiking Federation promotes walks and excursions along the paths of the Belpaese and that of the villages, with themed visits.

Art and Environment: moving gently between the Italian villages

Whoever is writing the Italian Recovery plan to take the now famous 200 billion euros from Europe has plenty of documents to consult. After all, what would Italy be like if the bureaucracy didn't have a hand in every decision to be made with papers, opinions, appeals, statistics and so on. Among this growing mountain of texts, however, we have discovered one that opens a highway to come back to life as the spread of the virus decreases - hopefully -. And (which is not secondary) it has little to do with the dusty paperwork of parastatal offices. It is the "Spring for Sweet Mobility 2021" program put together by the Association of Virtuous Municipalities and the Sweet Mobility Association. The same ones who sent Draghi's ministers the «7 Amodo ideas» always on mobility.

For the Spring event, the Association has drawn up a list of pleasant things to do until next June 21st. A carnet aimed in particular at those who love cycling, walking, discovering local railways, immersing themselves in villages. Frankly, who doesn't feel the need to get out of these exhausting lockdowns to go back to living in the open air, find friends, redeem themselves from forced abstentions? Oh well, Italians are usually described as a people more accustomed to laziness than to sprinting. But a year of restrictions - statistics say - have increased all kinds of abnormalities, so that life outside the home is perceived as the most tenacious of the revolutions we can afford these days. Certainly to go around, and not on the rioters' outposts, it will be necessary to respect the requirements on the use of masks, distance, the rules on travel by car and public transport. On the other hand, the environmental cause will have gained many thousands of people, thanks to virtuous mayors and, yes, they are sensitive to the territory.

The site  https://comunivirtuosi.org/primavera-dolce/ reports the program of initiatives that also enjoy the patronage of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, that of Culture, ANCI, the FS Foundation and the European Vie Francigene Association. In any case, the organizers say, Spring 2021 wants to be a message of hope to restart Italy, with the desire to return to life, in small groups, in nature and in the Italian villages. On 22 and 23 May there are the days dedicated to the local railways. From 17 to 19 June the Railway Marathon as the final event of all the events.

A voluntary and attractive grassroots program. In view of the recovery with millions of Italians vaccinated by June, how much will politics be able to value such proposals? To put a distressed and tired community back on track? An answer is given by Anna Donati, spokeswoman for AMODO. The Spring for Soft Mobility 2021 certainly wants to « be an opportunity to ask the Draghi Government and the Parliament that the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Next Generation Italy, has adequate and necessary attention to active mobility, local railways, villages and sustainable tourism. An indispensable project and vision for a sustainable restart, lasting employment and the protection of the territory in our country ». EU money will be useful to replicate these programs in the coming years. The fact that the documents to be sent to Brussels next month are still being processed in recent weeks under the direction of Draghi bodes well. Nor can the patronage of strategic Ministries be just a facade.
