Artbonus, Italian patronage is growing

Thanks to the Artbonus tool, donations to Italian cultural heritage exceeded 500 million euros, increasing by over 65 million euros in nine months. 17.898 patrons supported 4.123 interventions registered on the site www.artbonus.gov.it with donations for the restoration, protection of cultural heritage and support for the activities of the lyric-symphonic foundations and traditional theatres.

“Despite the pandemic – declares the Minister for Cultural Heritage and Activities and for Tourism, Dario Franceschini – the generosity of citizens and businesses allows us to reach a particularly symbolic goal in 2020. 500.345.210 euros donated in just over six years demonstrate that the Art Bonus is working well. An effective measure, which not surprisingly has become an international model". Introduced in 2014, the 65% tax break is currently one of the most advantageous measures to encourage patronage in Europe.

There are currently 2.018 entities registered as beneficiaries, mostly Municipalities (1.017) and companies in the entertainment world (365). There are also numerous public cultural institutions under concession (275) and MiBACT museums and institutes (127).
